According to their social media, He’s Not Here plans to reopen to the public today as the “Home of the Blue Cup and Bottle Shop.”
The self-described “collegial haunt,” located on Franklin Street, will now be serving a selection of beer and cider 6-packs to-go.
After being closed for months since Governor Cooper’s initial executive order on March 17, He’s Not Here will be able to reopen by becoming a “retail beverage venue.”
According to section 1d of Cooper’s executive order, “bars are defined as establishments that are not restaurants and that have a permit to sell alcoholic beverages for onsite consumption. This Order does not direct the closure of retail beverage venues that currently provide for the sale of beer, wine, and liquor for off-site consumption only. It also does not require the closure of production operations at breweries, wineries, or distilleries.”
Many local breweries and distilleries have reopened since the start of Phase 2 on May 22. You can find that list here.
He’s Not Here will be open from 5 to 10 p.m. Governor Roy Cooper announced last week that alcohol sales across North Carolina will be ending at 11 p.m. to curb late-night gatherings.
According to their Instagram post, He’s Not Here will be abiding fully to all state and county health guidelines. Additionally, they will be operating at less than 20 percent capacity and there will be no indoor seating for the foreseeable future.
According to their post, “all tables and benches in the courtyard have been moved to provide safe, socially distanced, spaces for customers” and masks will be required by all staff and business patrons.
