Update: The restaurant website said pies are sold out.

“We greatly appreciate all the support and encouragement from our Chapel Hill Community,” read a message on the order site.  “It has been overwhelming, literally.  To all those that have ordered our mini Atlantic Beach pie for this pop-up, thank you.  To those folks we were unable to serve at this time, apologies.  We hope to continue to do more events and hope to serve you soon!”

Crook’s Corner will once again briefly reopen to sell Atlantic Beach pie for the July 4 weekend. This is the second time the business has briefly reopened following a honeysuckle sorbet sale earlier this month.

Customers will have until 6 p.m. Thursday, June 30 to place their orders. Orders are limited to two pies and can be placed here. Pickups will occur July 1 and July 2 from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m and each pie is $10.

Any leftover pies available for purchase without a pre-order will be announced via Crook’s Corner on social media.

“We were so touched by the community support of our honeysuckle sorbet pop-up in early June that we decided to do a few more dessert pop-ups leading up to reopening,” restaurant co-owner Shannon Healy said in a release. “Atlantic Beach pie is certainly the one dessert that most guests have asked us about possibly selling. Our former executive chef Bill Smith is known for it and willing to make it.”

Atlantic Beach pie is based on lemon pies and became a sensation in 2013, landing a permanent spot on the Crook’s Corner menu.

Crook’s Corner closed in June 2021, but Healy said these dessert sales are part of steps to reopen the business. The timeline for a full reopening is still unclear due to “construction, legal and financial challenges.”
