The next Chapel Hill Downtown Partnership executive director is being hired from a similar role in Durham.
The partnership’s Board of Directors announced the hiring of Matt Gladdek on Wednesday morning. He will be taking over as executive director in mid-January.
Gladdek is replacing Meg McGurk, who moved from executive director of the downtown partnership to a different role with the Town of Chapel Hill earlier this year.
Chair of the downtown partnership board Elizabeth Sasser said the organization is thrilled to bring Gladdek to Chapel Hill.
“He is a thoughtful, visionary leader who will work collaboratively to make downtown Chapel Hill a more vibrant and inclusive place.”
Gladdek will be responsible for bringing stakeholders together “to reach a clear and compelling vision for the future of downtown Chapel Hill.”
Gladdek is moving to the executive director role from his most recent position as director of policy and planning for Downtown Durham, Inc.
“I am honored to come back to Chapel Hill and serve in this exciting role for a community I have always loved,” Gladdek said in a release. “I look forward to helping Chapel Hill define its priorities for downtown, to fulfill those desires, and to make downtown Chapel Hill a place everyone loves to be.”
Gladdek earned a Master’s degree in City & Regional Planning and a Master’s in Public Administration from UNC – Chapel Hill, officials said when announcing his hire.
