Franklin Street will soon host a new option for coffee drinkers.

7 Brew Drive-Thru Coffee, a nationwide chain with over 700 locations, will open a new location at 103 E. Franklin Street. A representative for the chain confirmed to Chapelboro that they are planning to open in “late winter 2026.”

It will operate out of the space formerly home to Starbucks Coffee, which moved to 100 E. Franklin Street in 2024. Hiring has already begun, with job listings for positions such as general manager and “brewistas” posted on hiring websites like Indeed.

The chain’s Chapel Hill location will be the its 21st in North Carolina. While it is famous for its drive-thru coffee stands, the Franklin Street location will not feature a drive-thru. The first 7 Brew opened in Arkansas in 2017, and the chain has since expanded to 38 states.

7 Brew told Chapelboro it is in the “early stages” of the Chapel Hill location, and said more details will come closer to the coffee shop’s opening.
