Tuesday is Primary Election Night across North Carolina, with a variety of races on voters’ ballots and setting up November’s midterms. The Chapel Hill Media Group is preparing to once again bring local coverage of races important to the greater Orange County community through its two outlets, 97.9 The Hill and Chapelboro.com.
97.9 The Hill WCHL will hold special Election Night programming beginning at 10 p.m. on Tuesday, Mar. 3. Hosted by Aaron Keck, the host of “This Morning with Aaron Keck,” the hour-long show will bring listeners a full picture of election results ranging from local congressional and North Carolina House primaries to Orange County Board of Education and sheriff races.
The programming will be shorter and later than typical Election Night shows because WCHL will carry the UNC men’s basketball game vs. Clemson. Following “News On The Hill” — which will also feature updates from Election Day — pre-game coverage of Tar Heel basketball begins at 5:30 p.m. with “Countdown to Tip-Off” and the Tar Heel Sports Network Pre-Game Show at 6 p.m. before the game tips off at 7 p.m. The 97.9 The Hill news team will share brief updates of the results at halftime and the end of the game before the Election Night special begins at 10 p.m.
Listeners can find the radio broadcast at 97.9 FM and 1360 AM, by streaming it on Chapelboro.com and TuneIn, or asking your smart speaker to “play 97.9 The Hill WCHL.”
During the men’s basketball game, readers can also find live updates on Chapelboro.com — like the 2026 Election Results webpage — and by following 97.9 The Hill/Chapelboro on Facebook, Instagram, X and Bluesky.
