Each candidate answered the same set of questions regarding their decision to run for elected office, their backgrounds and what they wish for residents to think of when voting this fall. One of North Carolina’s two seats in the U.S. Senate is open, as current Sen. Richard Burr will retire at the end of his term this winter. Democratic candidate Cheri Beasley and Republican candidate Ted Budd each emerged as the winners of their respective primary elections and are looking to be elected for a six-year term.
