The Orange County Sheriff’s Office seized five kilograms of what was suspected to be cocaine HCL in Carrboro on July 6, according to authorities.

During an operation with other local, state and federal agencies, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office obtained an investigative lead, according to a release. The cocaine was found in a hidden compartment of a red Nissan pickup truck.

Officials say they also discovered $240,000 in US currency in a neighboring jurisdiction as a result of further investigation. Authorities say they believe that money was in route to Mexico.

The investigation in ongoing and officials say “multiple arrests” have been made so far.
