To commemorate Kenan Stadium’s centennial season, 97.9 The Hill is inviting community members to share their favorite Kenan memories from the past 100 years. This twice-weekly series will showcase stories from players and fans throughout the fall.

Few players have left as enduring a mark on the UNC football program as Don McCauley. A running back originally from New York, McCauley arrived in Chapel Hill in 1967. Before he left, he had won two consecutive ACC Player of the Year awards and earned consensus All-America honors as a senior in 1970. Former UNC trustee Rusty Carter, a classmate of McCauley’s, remembers his greatness.
