Welcome to Talking Culture! In this weekly interview series from 97.9 The Hill WCHL, you’ll hear from writers, performers, musicians and individuals involved in advancing and promoting cultural arts in our community.
This week we’re talking theater, as PlayMakers Repertory Company is back with their latest mainstage show: the Scottish play, Shakespeare’s Macbeth, with Ron Menzel in the title role and PlayMakers artistic director Vivienne Benesch as Lady Macbeth. Aaron welcomes Menzel and Benesch (a real-life couple as well!) to the studio to discuss the show, the staging, and their approach to realizing (and humanizing) the iconic villains.
“Macbeth” has its first preview show tonight, March 4; opening night is Saturday, March 7, and the show runs through Sunday, March 22. Visit PlayMakersRep.org for tickets and more information.
