For a few hours over the weekend, the greater Chapel Hill community was in a winter wonderland.

A winter storm blanketed Orange County and the surrounding area with a thin layer of snow on Friday. Overnight on Saturday, it was later packed down or rinse away by freezing rain, which its own layer of ice over everything outdoors. While storm created some hazardous conditions and temperatures stayed cool, it was sunny and warm enough on Saturday and Sunday to help melt away some of the winter looks.

Before that happened, though, photographer and visual artist Mike Benson took a stroll around the community and captured photos of the winter scenes. Check out the photo gallery below by clicking or tapping on each photo, all of which are from Benson:
