A pair of armed robberies reportedly took place less than ten minutes from each other during the early morning hours of Saturday, according to Chapel Hill Police.

An alert shared by the town government and police said the pair of incidents are believed to involve the same suspects, and happened along nearly the same road. Chapel Hill Police said the first occurred at 2:21 a.m. around West Cameron Avenue and Granville Towers Lane, which is the entrance of the Granville Towers complex used by UNC students. The second reportedly happened just eight minutes later a few blocks west, in the area of Crest Drive and Knolls Street — which is in a neighborhood off South Merritt Mill Road.

Police said in both cases, the victims reported two male suspects got out of a white SUV, assaulted them, and took personal property before driving away. Saturday’s release said all victims were treated for minor injuries from the assaults.

Both armed robberies are under investigation, but as of Saturday morning, Chapel Hill Police said there is no additional information available on the suspects or incidents.

Because of the robberies’ proximity to the campus community, UNC issued an Alert Carolina message before 6 a.m. detailing the assaults. The alert largely shared the same information as Chapel Hill Police, but requested the UNC community should “be on the lookout, exercise caution and report any information to either Chapel Hill Police or UNC Police.”
