The UNC baseball team was swept aside by Boston College Sunday in Chapel Hill, as the Eagles won their third in a row at Boshamer Stadium by a score of 6-2. Once again, Carolina held a lead but could not finish the job.

Boston College scored the final five runs of the game to overcome a 2-1 deficit. After tying the game in the fifth, the Eagles scored three runs in the seventh and one in the eighth to win going away. For the second straight day, two consecutive UNC pitchers failed to record an out in the game-deciding Eagle rally. Cameron Padgett was dealt the loss after allowing the only two runners he faced to reach base, both of whom eventually scored.

The weekend marks the first time Carolina has been swept in a three-game series all season, and the first time the team has been swept in Chapel Hill since 2021. The three-game slide is also the team’s longest of the year.

The Diamond Heels will look to snap that slide Tuesday night when they host UNC-Wilmington. After that, they’ll hit the road for the first time in three weeks to visit Virginia Tech.
