Head coach Hubert Davis and the Tar Heels received more good news out of the transfer portal Saturday, as coveted former Stanford wing Harrison Ingram announced his commitment to play for Carolina. He will have two years of eligibility in Chapel Hill.
A five-star recruit out of Dallas in the class of 2021, Ingram played two seasons for the Cardinal and head coach Jerod Haase — ironically, a former assistant under Roy Williams in Chapel Hill. In those two seasons, Ingram made 62 starts and averaged 10.5 points per game. A versatile 6-8 small forward, Ingram also grabbed 6.2 rebounds and distributed 3.4 assists per game in his time at Stanford. He shot 31.6 percent on three-pointers but took the bulk of his shots from inside the arc. Ingram was named to the Pac-12 All-Freshman Team and also won Pac-12 Rookie of the Year after the 2021-22 season.
Ingram is the fourth transfer to commit to Carolina out of the portal and the second in the last week, joining Notre Dame’s Cormac Ryan. His commitment leaves the Tar Heels with two open scholarship spots for the upcoming season.
