UNC football’s home opener for the upcoming season will be played on the 20th anniversary of the September 11 attacks, and the program is offering free tickets to first responders for that game.

“We can’t thank our first responders enough for their selfless actions on a daily basis, but especially 9/11 and the pandemic,” said UNC head coach Mack Brown in a release. “These are special people who give so much, and we want to give them something in return. We hope they’ll come out to the Georgia State game and be recognized because they deserve all of our praise for how much they contribute to our communities.”

The giveaway will run as long as supplies last, according to Carolina Athletics. Interested parties can claim tickets here. They must prove their first responder status before ordering.

Orders are limited to four per package. While the tickets themselves are free, a small transaction fee will be added.

Commemorations of the 20th anniversary of the attacks will be held throughout pre-game festivities and during the game against Georgia State. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
