Governor Roy Cooper revealed appointments for different North Carolina Boards and Commissions on Friday, with three Chapel Hill residents among those selected.
Cooper named Ashley Lefler Wilson to the North Carolina Awards Committee as a member-at-large, while Sarah West was appointed to the North Carolina State Board of Community Colleges and Dr. David Ansong to the Permanency Innovation Initiative Oversight Committee.
Wilson is a retired nurse practitioner who volunteers with the Chapel Hill-Carrboro Public School Foundations and UNC Horizon — a substance use disorder treatment program for pregnant and/or parenting women and their children.
West was chosen to represent region 3 on the Board of Community Colleges. She is currently the principal of Sarah West & Associates, a consulting practice for higher education, healthcare and entrepreneurial clients. West has also previously served as the Associate Vice President for Strategic Planning and the Campaign at Duke University.
Ansong, an assistant professor for the UNC School of Social Work, will serve as UNC’s representative on the Permanency Innovation Initiative Oversight Committee. He has more than a decade of experience teaching statistical analysis at universities, with several publications on the subject to his name.
The full list of state board and committee members can be found on the governor’s website.
