Multiple employees of the Whole Foods grocery store in Chapel Hill have tested positive for COVID-19, according to several outlets.
The store, located at 81 South Elliott Road, has not shared any information about the employees, when they tested positive or how many have the coronavirus. In a statement to WRAL on Saturday, a spokesperson for Whole Foods confirmed more than one employee has tested positive.
The statement was made following a report from INDY Week that two employees tested positive, one as early as mid-March. At the time, Whole Foods did not disclose any information about the cases to the public.
The company spokesperson told WRAL the Chapel Hill location is operating under Governor Roy Cooper’s social distancing requirements and has implemented mandatory measures for staff, like temperature checks and face masks.
The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services lists the 27514 zip code, which the Whole Foods store is in, as having 59 reported coronavirus cases and three reported deaths as of Saturday.
