The Hillsborough Police Department has announced that it will change the focus of its fourth annual golf tournament to benefit the Orange Rural Fire Department in honor of fallen firefighter Jeff Holden.
The 17-year veteran of the Orange Rural Fire Department was found unresponsive in the main station earlier this month after a rescue call earlier in the day.
“Considering recent tragic events, the proceeds from the #HillsboroughRocks Golf Tournament will go to the Orange Rural Fire Department in honor of Assistant Chief Jeffrey ‘Stan’ Holden,” said Sgt. William Parker of the Hillsborough Police Department. “Please support this effort by participating or making a donation. One town, one family.”
The Police Department’s golf tournament is scheduled to take place on Saturday, September 8 at 8 a.m. at the Shamrock Golf Course in Burlington. The deadline for participating is next week — Aug. 31 — and registration is limited to 80 players.
The tournament will take place rain or shine with a shotgun start and will follow a four-player “captain’s choice” format. Teams can register for $50 per player, which includes cart rental, lunch and greens fee.
For more information on the tournament, as well as prices and registration, contact the Hillsborough Police Department’s Community Services Unit.
