Carolina For The Kids, formerly UNC Dance Marathon, is a student-run non-profit at UNC. The organization held its annual 5k Sunday morning.
Kilometers For The Kids (KFTK) raised $17,795.25 through registrations, sponsors and donations to support the patients and families of UNC Children’s Hospital.
Carolina FTK partnered with the Office of New Students and Carolina Parent Programs to include KFTK in UNC’s Family Weekend 2016. The event also included a one-mile fun run.

Publicity Chair Jacob Blount said it was an exciting start to the year of fundraising.
“We are thrilled with the turnout and success of this year’s Kilometers For The Kids race,” he said. “It was great to see so many Carolina families take part in the run and we’re excited to have raised over $17,000.”
Carolina FTK supports multiple programs and grants for UNC Children’s. Executive Director Elizabeth Brown said all funds from KFTK will go toward these programs.
“We work year round to provide support for the patients and families of UNC Children’s and KTFK is an important part of that,” she said.
Carolina For The Kids is largest student fundraiser on UNC’s campus. The organization holds its biggest event, a 24-hour dance marathon, each spring. Last year, Carolina FTK raised $614,717.71 through multiple events, fundraisers and donations.
