ACC commissioner John Swofford announced Thursday that the league has agreed to a 10-year contract extension to keep its football championship game at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte.
The home of the NFL’s Carolina Panthers has been the site of seven of the last eight ACC championship games, and is now guaranteed to host at least the next 13.
Four of the last seven ACC championship games have sold out, with 2015’s game between UNC and Clemson still the most attended title game in conference history–and the only time the Tar Heels have ever played in it.
“With the outstanding efforts by the Charlotte Sports Foundation, Carolina Panthers and city of Charlotte, our game has grown into one of the premier sporting events in the country,” Swofford said. “We look forward every year to this annual celebration of ACC Football.”
