Orange County officials will test a new phone alert system on Monday. Subscribers to the OC Alerts notification system will receive a test call at 2 p.m.
The system is designed to deliver alerts using text, email, cell phones and landlines. OC Alerts is a partnership between Orange County, Chapel Hill, Carrboro and OWASA.
