Chapel Hill Police made an arrest after a nearly two-month investigation into a check fraud case.

56-year-old Christian Albert Ball, of Springview Trail in Chapel Hill, was arrested by authorities on Wednesday on eight felony charges of forgery and obtaining property by false pretense.

66-year-old Carol Winkleman notified police on April 29 that a checkbook had been stolen from her home on Virginia Drive in Chapel Hill.

Nearly two months passed, but on a June 10 patrol an officer spotted the suspect’s vehicle and arrested Ball. He was then transported to Hillsborough and turned over to the custody of the Orange County Jail, where he is being held on $5,000 bond.
