Today is Friday, February 26, 2016. “Special medicine” leads to a pot bust, a bald man steals Rogaine, and we meet the best music educator in the county.
Special Medicine
A second grader told school officials and police that he helped his mother’s boyfriend grow “special medicine.” The boy also mentioned that people came to their house frequently.
That information led to a big marijuana bust.
Fifty-four-year-old Steven Mann pleaded not guilty this week in a White River Junction court to a felony count of cultivating more than 25 marijuana plants. Police say they found two “grow rooms” next to the child’s bedroom.
Bald Man Steals Rogaine
Police in suburban Cincinnati are on the lookout for a bald man they say has been stealing hair growth and memory aid products from stores.
Police have issued an alert for “a serial thief” they say recently took $847 worth of Rogaine and Prevagen products from a Walgreens store in the city just north of Cincinnati.
Best Music Educator in the Country
Phillip Riggs teaches music at the North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics in Durham. He’s taught school bands and choirs all over the state for decades.
He also devotes his time to helping new band teachers; he even started a mentorship program. Out of 4,500 nominations from 50 states, the Grammy Foundation picked Riggs as the best music educator in the country.
