This month on “Wonderful Water,” join 97.9 The Hill’s Andrew Stuckey for a conversation with Nick Rogers, assistant manager for OWASA’s distribution and collection systems.
The “three P’s” rule has become especially relevant yet again, as OWASA highlights the importance of proper disposal of fats, oils and grease along with some other cold-weather tips to keep water systems humming over the holidays.
Wastewater management is a big deal for both OWASA and the people it serves, and as people are making more home-cooked meals for themselves, friends and family it’s important to remember to let dishes cool before washing, and to put as much as possible into the trash instead of down the train.
With freezing temperatures becoming more of a regular occurance, OWASA also reminds people to keep an eye on pipes in unheated areas, such as crawl spaces and basements, and to take extra steps on sealing and insulating exposed pipes while draining unused pipes.
