Welcome to Woman Crush Wednesday!
This week, join 97.9 The Hill’s Ali Evans for a conversation with Dr. Lori O’Neill, of Vitality Physical Therapy, a practitioner and educator with well over two decades of experience in pre and post partum physical therapy to help women prepare for, and heal from, childbirth
“I grew up in a house full of females,” said O’Neil. “And, just watching over generations, how the strong females in my family have navigated their health was an inspiration. And in high school, back in the nineties, you just kind of picked a career and then went for it. So, I didn’t really even know what I was fully getting into, I don’t think, but it became apparent there was such a gap in women’s pelvic health. Then, the more you learn, the more fascinating it gets.”
Part of O’Neil’s work deals with the concept of “forever postpartum,” the idea that the process of childbirth creates significant change that doesn’t end with the birth itself.
“’Forever postpartum’ simply means once you are postpartum in the sense that once you have conceived and birthed, or even a pregnancy that didn’t go to term, you still have that imprint in you,” said O’Neil. “Your body keeps score.”
