The Ackland is hosting Acktober Fest this Friday. Acktober will feature exhibit tours, still life drawing stations, a celebration of their current exhibit Drawn to Life, art-inspired beer and cheese pairings, and more. There’s another chance for art lovers to enjoy some art this weekend. Pittsboro Gallery of Arts will be holding their Bal Masque to celebrate its newly curated fall show. 30 artists’ works in a variety of mediums will be featured Appetizers and drinks will be available and admission is free. Celebrate the diamond year of the NAACP with the UNC Health Freedom Journey. Community members will walk or bike ride of the town’s Black historical sites from Lincoln Center to Hargraves Community Center. The walk will include storytelling and singing to celebrate the occasion. It’s the battle of the blue this weekend! Don’t miss any of the action this Saturday as the Tar Heels face off against Duke. Coverage starts at 5:00 p.m. with Inside Carolina, followed by the Tar Heel Sports Network pre-game show an hour before kick off. Kick off is at 8 and we’ll have every second the action for you. Food lovers, learn about the art of cooking in our area! The Orange County Historical Museum will be holding a meet and greet tour of their new exhibit What’s Your Flavor as well as three food tastings and two guest speakers. There’s another chance for you to enjoy some more great food this weekend with the first-ever Pay-What-You-Can Community Feast by the Quiltmaker Cafe at The Plant. Meet and speak with other members of our community over a delicious meal. A meal will be available for anyone who walks through the door and guests can donate money, time, or produce.
