Start your weekend at the Carolina Inn for Fridays on the Front Porch. Enjoy some live music while you sip on a handcrafted cocktail or a North Carolina beer. Food trucks will be on hand serving food as well. Click here to view the lineup.

Through September 16th, Spring Haven Farm is hosting Movies with Goats. Friday nights are date nights where they’ll show a romantic comedy and Saturday nights are family night. A concession stand will be on hand, even selling treats for the goats, but feel free to bring food from outside as well (just not any outside food for the goats). To get your tickets, click here.

Saturday, July 8 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.

Through November, the North Carolina Botanical Garden will be holding a garden tour on the second Saturday of each month. Take a guided tour through the garden and learn more about the native plants. Click here for more information.

Kindred Heart Animal Hospital in Governors Village is now open! This weekend, they will be holding a grand opening party that is family and of course, pet-friendly. Food from the Flying Pierogi will be available and drinks provided from Craftboro Brewing Depot. The family can enjoy balloon animals, a tour of the new facility, and much more during the celebration! For more information, click here.

Saturday, July 8, Sunday, July 9 4:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.

Chelsea Classics is back again this summer. This weekend, you can catch the film Drylongso, a film that touches on racial injustice in the DIY style of a buddy movie, on Saturday and Millenium Mambo, a story about romance in the nightlife of Taipei, on Sunday. To get your tickets click here.

Come out to the newly renovated Lumina Theater for Movies on the Green. Throughout the summer, Lumina will be airing many classic movies, including some family friendly choices. This week, watch the childhood classic, Toy Story. Click here to get your tickets.

Sunday, July 9 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

Drop a line at West Point Mill this weekend. They’ll have cane fishing poles for you to check out for the afternoon while you step away from the hustle bustle at West Point on the Eno. Enjoy nature and some old-fashioned fishing this weekend. When you’re done fishing you can also take a tour around West Point Mill and hear stories about people who lived, played, and worked in the area. Click here for more information.

This Sunday, Flyleaf Books will be holding their July poetry day, in their monthly series. Featured poets will read for 20 minutes and sign their books, and there will be an open mic session after a short intermission. The featured poets this month are Maureen Sherbondy and Bruce Beasley. Bring a blanket and bring some dinner out to Southern Village Sunday night for Sunday Night Live. Blue Cup Riot will be playing classic rock covers starting at 7. There is no cover charge, but tips for the musicians are appreciated. For more information, click here
