If you’re a photographer, the Department of Environment, Agriculture, and Parks are holding a photography contest. Explore Orange County and take pictures of the beautiful nature we have around us. The theme for this year is “Flora and Pollinators.” They will be accepting submissions through May 31st. For more information about the contest, click here.

This Friday, Morehead Planetarium is holding a high definition presentation by Andy Saunders entitled Apollo Remastered. It’s a journey through the Apollo missions with remastered photos. This weekend at Pittsboro Gallery of Arts, they will be holding an Art Entendre. Sarah Ann Austin will be showing how she makes her Artisan Animal Hair brushes with local bamboo handles. Hillsborough Gallery of Arts opened their newest exhibit this week entitled Mystic Chords. It includes a photographic montage and mixed media by Catherine Carter, artistic fine furniture by Pete Rodrigues, and impressionist landscape paintings by Jude Lobe. The 36th Annual Mebane Dogwood Festival this weekend is this weekend! The festival officially starts Friday morning with a golf tournament, followed by the 5K race. The main stage headliner, the Mason Lovette Band, will be playing at 6. Carnival rides and delicious food will be available starting on Friday and continuing on Saturday.
