Starting this Friday through May 7th, the Junior League of Durham and Orange Counties will be holding a Shop, Save, Support fundraiser. Purchase a shop, save, support card from the Justice League and participating businesses will be offering a discount to those that have one. The proceeds of the cards go toward supporting food access and education around our community. For more information, click here.

West Point on the Eno will be holding a History Explorer Day all about the Mill. Participants will learn about simple machines that make up the mill, discover the history and importance of grist mills in our region, hike to a former mill site, and more! Come out to Flyleaf Books for a reading by Leslie Absher from her book Spy Girl, Queer Daughter. The Mebane Dogwood Festival starts this weekend! The festivities start Friday night carnival rides and food trucks from 6:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. The Mason Lovette band will take the mainstage from 7:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. The celebration continues on Saturday with food, arts and crafts vendors, a beer garden and car show, more carnival rides, and more! LEVEL will be offering a free artist talk on the rooftop at Attic 506 with Caroline Kearn. Her work includes illustration, machine tufting, and more. She will speak about her experience as a DIY artist as well as the work she has been doing with LEVEL on a mixed-genre book about living with a mild-traumatic brain injury, post-concussion syndrome, and her experience with long-COVID. This Saturday, Bethel Baptist Church will be having a Community Tag Sale. Come out and shop pottery, plants, baked goods, and more. The sale will be every Saturday through May 13th. There are also vendor slots available if you’re interested in selling. For more information, click here.

The Hargraves Center will be hosting the 2nd annual Orange-Chatham African American Cultural Festival. The day will celebrate African American culture in the U.S. through the mediums of art, dance, music, drama, and poetry. Food will be provided by Tasty Turkey Que. The ClydeFest is back in Chatham, this time at the Chatham County Agriculture and Conference Center. This art festival is fun for all ages and all are welcome to let out their creativity. The Historic Hillsborough Commission is celebrating 60 years of preserving the Burwell School Historic Site with an annual fundraiser on the grounds. A jazz band will be performing during the cocktail hour then enjoy delicious BBQ, fried chicken, and more for the main course. Auction items will be given out throughout the night. WCOM is holding a murder mystery fundraiser at Carrboro Century Center. Food will be served while you and the group attempt to figure out who murdered the fictional senator. Click here for more information.

Drop a line at West Point Mill this weekend. They’ll have cane fishing poles for you to check out for the afternoon while you step away from the hustle bustle at West Point on the Eno. Enjoy nature and some old-fashioned fishing this weekend. When you’re done fishing you can also take a tour around West Point Mill and hear stories about people who lived, played, and worked in the area. Click here for more information.

Finish off the weekend festivities with some live music by the School of Rock Chapel Hill’s Performance Program students. Their sets will include the best of Metallica, the best of Abba, Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon, and more! A $10 donation is requested at the door. For more information, click here.
