Let’s Do This Together

Helen Keller said “Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.” As social workers, this resonates with us. The level of vitriol and misinformation present in the school board race run-off has divided us deeply, and we are risking going at it “alone.” Though, we imagine we all have more in common than not with shared goals for our children; to grow into well educated, responsible, contributing members of society. Our children and teachers need us together now.
For this reason, we have always and continue to support Bonnie Hauser in her efforts to remain on the school board. For the last four years, Ms. Hauser has demonstrated engagement at every level of our schools. She has come to every topic with critical thought, open mindedness, and a willingness to listen. She asks questions to understand the topics before her and seeks solutions to the challenges our schools face.
She has been steadfast in her commitment to equity through action, not just resolutions. She recognizes the disparities that exist in achievement between our minority children compared to their white counter parts. She seeks tangible action for improvement rather than mere talking points. This is the level of engagement, action, and leadership we need on our school board to keep our district moving forward.
The recent events surrounding the school board were unexpected, but the run-off remains. It is important that we all vote, and we hope you will join us in voting for integrity and action; vote for Bonnie Hauser. Early voting begins April 25. Election day is May 14. Let’s do this together!
