Hypocrisy in Hillsborough
A perspective from Polly Dornette
I see many assertions from those that endorsed Jennifer Moore that she “made a mistake.” It wasn’t just one mistake; it was a 3-year con that extends beyond our school board and community. She has 32 books listed for sale on Amazon, offers a paid subscription option on her podcast, and notes she is available for bookings for mental health panels and motivational speaking all under “Dr. Jennifer Moore.” She doubled down on her lie when she and others demanded that her fellow board members address her as “Dr. Moore.” She perpetuated the lie each graduation season when she donned the robes of those with advanced degrees and was identified as “Dr. Jennifer Moore” in the graduation program. She has repeated the lie in interviews, public forums, and questionnaires throughout this campaign.
I find it very difficult to believe she alone architected that deception. Many of her glowing endorsements just don’t jive with what I witnessed in public board meetings. I didn’t see “unwavering dedication” I witnessed a board member who failed to show up for numerous meetings. I don’t see someone who “speaks for her community,” but rather one who typically offered “no comment” and no questions. Considering recent developments, I certainly don’t see “a person of deep personal and professional integrity.”
Many of Jennifer Moore’s supporters continue to reference that she won by a few hundred votes in the March election but seem to not care that many of the voters who cast ballots for her did so based on lies and false information, based on endorsements which have now been withdrawn. Even as they withdraw their endorsements for the election several of the “progressive politicians” have asserted they will still vote for her because they “share her values” even in the face that those “values” don’t appear to include the hard work that needs to be put into education. This extremist left group mirrors the false idolatry of the extreme right.
This same “progressive” crowd preaches inclusion, but certainly doesn’t practice it. They have created social media echo chambers where anyone that dares bring up facts are promptly booted and blocked from the group. They champion black voices, but only the ones that echo their narratives silencing passionate black parents seeking academic rigor for their children. They view talking to neighbors of differing opinions as evidence of collusion.
This same group that doesn’t seem to care much about facts have also spread false information in both elections about Bonnie Hauser. They accuse Bonnie, a democrat of pushing a conservative agenda which to me is the equivalent of the “RINO” accusations of the MAGA crowd to their more moderate party members. The “progressives” have threatened that if elected Bonnie would ban books, despite her voting record keeping controversial books in our libraries when the issue was before the school board. They have accused Bonnie of opposing Dr. Felder at every opportunity, yet Bonnie was one of the few board members to vote for Dr. Felder’s science-based recommendation to reopen schools during the pandemic.
The “progressive” blue shirt crowd of Hillsborough is looking more and more like the red hat crowd every day. I’m tired of the team sports political mentality in our country and our community and that is why I am voting again for Bonnie Hauser because I’m voting for our kids.
