The new season of “Survivor” on CBS will have some local flair, as UNC doctor Alison Raybould was announced today as a competitor on the show.

Raybould’s profile on UNC’s official website lists her as a member of the Internal Medicine Residency Program. She completed her undergraduate at Columbia University and attended Georgetown University for medical school. Her professional interests, according to UNC’s website, include GI Oncology with a particular focus on palliative care in end-stage oncologic patients.

On Survivor, the 28-year-old will be a member of Team Goliath. She described herself as a hero, healer and a hustler.

“The stakes are higher for me than most,” Raybould said when asked how she will “survive” Survivor, “As I am acutely aware of what I am giving up (in stepping away from my patients and my program for two months), so I will not be afraid to make big moves. I will fight until the very end, and then when sitting across from the jury at the final Tribal Council, they will all commend the brilliant, strategic game I played.”
