Aaron welcomes acclaimed music journalist (and local resident) Richard Bienstock, who’s just co-authored a book on the history of Lollapalooza. It’s called “Lollapalooza: The Uncensored Story of Alternative Rock’s Wildest Festival,” co-written with Tom Beaujour, featuring interviews with dozens of iconic musicians from Perry Farrell to Eddie Vedder to Patti Smith and more. Bienstock and Beaujour let the musicians and organizers do most of the talking as they provide a backstage, warts-and-all look inside a traveling festival that defined (and redefined) the 1990s and brought alternative rock into the mainstream – to the point where it could hardly be called “alternative” anymore.
Bienstock and Beaujour will be discussing “Lollapalooza” at Flyleaf Books on Thursday, March 27, starting at 6 p.m. with book signings in advance of the talk at 5:30. Click here for more information.
