This week, Aaron welcomes local singer/songwriter Azul Zapata, who performs as Azul. She just released a new single, “Disco Never Died,” and there’s much more where that came from: Azul has plans to release two EPs in 2025, one with new studio recordings and one with a live performance.
You have a couple of chances to see Azul performing live in the next few weeks. She’s MC’ing and performing at Durham’s downtown tree lighting this Saturday, November 23, from 1-7 p.m. at CCB Plaza; then on December 19 she’ll be at Cats Cradle, opening for Rachel Despard (who just released a new album of her own).
Azul stopped by 97.9 The Hill (accompanied by Emily Musolino) and played a new song, “Lies,” which will be included on next year’s EP. Listen:
