This week, Aaron welcomes actor/playwright Mike Wiley and advocate James Williams to discuss a new theatrical production: Wiley’s one-man show “Changing Same,” co-written by Wiley and Howard Craft, about the murder of Booker Spicely, a Black Army soldier, in Durham in 1944. It’s a true story about a disturbing moment in our national and local history – but Wiley and Williams say that moment also helped spark a civil rights movement that made lasting gains, also locally as well as nationally.
Wiley will be performing the show over two weekends: November 7-10 at UNC’s Swain Hall, and November 14-17 at Duke’s Brody Theatre: 7:30 p.m. Thursday-Saturday and 2:00 p.m. Sunday. Visit PiedmontPerformanceFactory.org to reserve your seats and get more information.
