This is a photo by Geoffry Neal of an acorn on gray asphalt. The tan nut has a striated, slightly bumpy texture and comes to a point at the bottom. Its cap is thickly layered with brown and green pieces that look like (but aren’t) leaves, topped off by its broken stem.
