It’s time for another round of Studio Sessions with the School of Rock Chapel Hill, featuring three classic songs performed by the House Band!
This month, we bid farewell to House Band members Bella Jackson-Ruybal, Asher Simon, and Phillip Webb, who are all moving on after many years with School of Rock – and many appearances on 97.9 The Hill. They’re not leaving music, though: Webb and Simon are heading to college to study music tech, while Jackson-Ruybal will be spending her next year at the prestigious Interlochen Center for the Arts in Michigan. They reflect on their favorite memories and lessons learned at School of Rock, including this summer’s tour to Seattle. School of Rock owner/GM David Joseph is also on hand, to share his own thoughts about his departing students and to promote the House Band’s next show, a sendoff for the seniors at the Speakeasy in Carrboro. That show will be at 7 p.m. Friday, July 26; it’s free and open to the public, though School of Rock will be accepting donations.
Listen to their conversation, plus a trio of band performances: not live this time, but highlights from past performances selected by Jackson-Ruybal, Simon, and Webb.
