Django Haskins returns to 97.9 The Hill studios for the second time this year, ahead of the April 21 release of his new EP “Beforetimes 2.”

Comprised entirely of songs written and recorded before the pandemic, the two volumes of “Beforetimes” are Haskins’ first release since 2018’s acclaimed “Shadowlawn.” Crossing genres from rock to country to jazz, the ten songs of “Beforetimes” also spotlight Haskins’ wide-ranging interests. (Witness the second volume’s stellar opening track, “I Pull the Strings,” written in the voice of controversial mid-20th century urban planner Robert Moses.)

Haskins will celebrate the release of “Beforetimes 2” with a show on Friday, April 29, at Cats Cradle Back Room, with Chris Stamey (of the dB’s) opening.

Django Haskins joined Aaron Keck on “Live & Local” to discuss the new EP, Halloween costumes, songs about historical villains, and the upcoming Cats Cradle show. He also played three songs: “I Pull the Strings,” “Blind the Moon,” and “Afraid of Love.” Listen below:
