With a new EP, “Beforetimes 1,” due out next week, Django Haskins joined Aaron on 97.9 The Hill during “Live & Local” on Tuesday.
Recorded virtually along with local musical notables like Skylar Gudasz and Phil Cook, “Beforetimes 1” is Haskins’ first release since his 2018 album “Shadowlawn.” It’s the first of two “Beforetimes” volumes due out this year; Haskins says the second volume will be released in April.
Many of the songs on “Beforetimes” were written before the pandemic began, but Haskins says he has a big stash of pandemic-era songs too. He says he’s been passing the time by writing a new song every week – and he’s up to 85 now in the last two years.
Django Haskins discussed “Beforetimes 1” and his plans for the coming year – including upcoming shows with his band, the Old Ceremony. He also played three songs live in 97.9 The Hill studios: “Cutting Onions,” “Trim the Sails,” and “I Hate Horror Movies.” Listen below:
