On the heels of the release of his second album, Fracture, Kelly Pratt of Bright Moments joined Aaron Keck this week on “Live & Local.”
Kelly Pratt is a recent arrival in Carrboro, but he’s been an accomplished musician for nearly two decades. After getting his start in music education, he’s gone on to work with bands and artists like Arcade Fire, Beirut, Coldplay, David Byrne, LCD Soundsystem, St. Vincent, and many more as a composer, arranger, and instrumentalist. He’s also contributed music to film and TV projects, like “Bob’s Burgers” and the 2019 horror film Midsommar. And in between all of that work, he’s also found time to start a family and pursue Bright Moments as a solo project.
Now, ten years after Bright Moments’ critically acclaimed debut Natives, Pratt released his sophomore effort on January 7. With a diverse sound and rich orchestration, featuring nearly a dozen musicians, and anchored by the single “Lonely Child,” Fracture is already shaping up to be a highlight of the new year in music.
Kelly Pratt discussed the album with Aaron and played three tracks: “Lonely Child,” “Symmetry I,” and “Foolish Love.” Listen below.
