With a new single coming out, an album dropping in January, and a show this Saturday in Durham, Charles Latham stopped by Live and Local last week.
Charles Latham and the Borrowed Band have been Live & Local favorites since their album “Little Me Time” dropped in 2017. Since then, Latham has released a second album as well as an EP – and a third album (still unnamed) is due out next year.
The album’s lead single, “Last Great Never Was,” is a re-recording of a track Latham first released on his 2020 EP “No Landlords.” The single is dropping this week along with a music video – and the band (now including Robert Sledge of Ben Folds Five fame) is celebrating with a video-release show Saturday, October 21, at Shadowbox Studio in Durham.
Saturday’s show is more than just a concert: “We’re calling it a ‘happening,'” Latham says. In addition to the band’s performance, there will also be music from DJ Craig Layabout, as well as a “sound bath” led by Jennifer Hansen of Ancient Song Therapy – plus a screening of the “Last Great Never Was” music video.
Charles Latham joined Aaron on Zoom to discuss the show and the upcoming album and play three tracks: “Last Great Never Was,” “Love Hurts (If You Do It Right),” and “Someone’s Sayin.”
