The two-piece band Entrez Vous (Kelly Reidy and Clark Blomquist) stopped by Live & Local this week, following the March 21 release of their new album “Antenna Legs Hear Everything.”
Named for a line in a song Reidy wrote about a spider, “Antenna Legs” is Entrez Vous’ second album, their first since their self-titled 2023 debut. Both albums are steeped in the band’s signature garage-rock sound: quick tracks, often less than two minutes long, with fuzzy instrumentation and songwriting that blends a wide variety of influences ranging from throwback country to ‘60s pop.
“A lot of the songs are ones that I wrote just on acoustic guitar or maybe even baritone ukulele,” says Reidy. “They started out as just real small, simple songs – and then Clark arranged them and produced them, and turned them into bigger masterpieces.”
To record the bulk of the album, Reidy and Blomquist hit the road and got out of town.
“Our friends have a cabin out in the mountains – (actually) a geodesic dome – (and) we just trucked a bunch of gear and supplies out there and recorded for a few days,” says Blomquist. “About half were songs that Kelly had already written; the other half we came up with there.”
Now that the album is out, Entrez Vous is gearing up for a run of shows later this spring. First up is a show at Kings in Raleigh on Tuesday, April 15: Reidy and Blomquist will be opening for the Austin-based band Being Dead, with fellow Triangle band Heavy Denim also playing in support.
