This week’s Hometown Heroes, presented by Hendrick Southpoint, are three Chapel Hill firefighters: Captain Patrick Spencer, Master Firefighter Bradley Hoover, and Firefighter Luis Velazquez!
The trio were on their way back to the station when they ran across Madeleine, an eight-month-old English Setter who had ran away from home. The firefighters let the friendly pup into the truck and drove her a short way home after calling the family and phone number listed on her tag.
“This is not an uncommon occurrence. You know, we do this stuff every day,” said Spencer. “It’s part of our job to look around for problems and then solve them. People are supposed to help each other, so I kind of view that as the reason we go to work – to look around, identify problems, and solve them.”
