This week’s Hometown Heroes, presented by Hendrick Southpoint, are Kari Hamel and Seiji Stanford!
Kari and Seiji volunteer with Food For Students, and have been active participants in the program for several years, donating their time and effort on “Free Book Wednesdays” and helping to give away around 11,000 books in just one year!
In the summer of 2019, when schools and libraries were closed, the mother-and-son team began distributing books at Food For Student meal sites — as well as to the YMCA Scholastic Learning Centers, Rogers Road Community Center and the Refugee Community Partners’ Neighborhood Support Circles.
