This week’s Hometown Hero, presented by Hendrick Southpoint, is Margo MacIntyre!

MacIntyre is the curator of the Coker Arboretum, who started her career as an intern for the North Carolina Botanical Garden and has since curated not only the lovely public gardens, but also a community of people — from employees to volunteers — who support engagement with and education about the flora of North Carolina.

“I think what I really like about Margo is how she, in a very quiet and unassuming way, built this really large community of support for the Arboretum. She, she gets things done there just by her personality,” said Damon Waitt, director of the North Carolina Botanical Garden. “She could be planting bulbs or raking or any number of Arboretum tasks, Margo will stop and talk to the visitor, and I think that’s one of the things that makes the Arboretum such a special place for people. … You want to help her gets things done, she’s just that kind of person.”
