This week’s Hometown Heroes, presented by the O. Max Gardner Foundation, are Madeline Blobe and Allison Worthy.
Blobe and Worthy are with the Chapel Hill-Carrboro Public School Foundation. Every year since 2008, the Public School Foundation has hosted a teacher supply store in conjunction with East Chapel Hill Rotary Club. Volunteers have been working tirelessly to turn the Smith Middle School gym into a one-stop shop for school supplies. This week, every teacher in the Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools is invited to come and shop for supplies for their classrooms completely free. Over the years, the Teacher Supply Store has given away over $700,000 worth of supplies that teachers otherwise would have had to pay for out of their own pocket.
