This week’s Hometown Hero, presented by Hendrick Southpoint, is Blossom Damania, a virologist and vice dean for research at UNC!

Blossom Damania is a virologist and researcher at UNC, known for her work on oncogenic viruses that cause human cancer. Damania has also been serving as Vice Dean for Research at the UNC Chapel Hill School of Medicine since 2016.

“She cares deeply about the mission, and she cares deeply about people,” said Robert Duronio, associate dean of research at UNC. “People love her, not just at UNC, but across the world, because of who she is as a person and the great work she does.”
