CrossTies Barbecue will open Thursday in Carrboro.

The new restaurant occupies the space that was previously home to Southern Rail on Main St.  Southern Rail closed in December 2015.  It was once home to the Greensboro-Durham Southern Railway Line.  There will be a new bar and a larger central room with seating in both rail cars and outdoor dining on the patio.

Owner Andrew Moore, who now owns four businesses within a stone’s throw, says the restaurant is in the final stage of renovation.  Moore purchased the former Southern Rail, The Station, and the Tiger Room in January.  The Station reopened in April.  The Tiger Room space was converted into a smokehouse and prep kitchen.  Moore owns Venable Rotisserie Bistro and B-Side Lounge in addition to CrossTies Barbecue and The Station.

In a release Moore said, ““While there is great barbecue throughout the Triangle, we believe we can bring something new and exciting to the scene with our own twists on the food and service. Plus, the setting is truly unique.”

The menu will feature “authentic Carolina and regional barbecue.”  Expect to see inventive sides, salads, sandwiches, and appetizers also.  Vegetarian options will also be available in the form of BBQ tofu and a vegetarian BLT.

CrossTies Barbecue will be open Monday through Saturday.  Lunch will be served from 11:30 AM to 2:30 PM and dinner will be 5:30 PM to 9:30 PM.
