It seems common sense that where we work will impact how we work. Research reported in the Harvard Business Review shows that environments designed for sensory stimulation and flexibility boost innovation by as much 45%.
Lots of natural light. Open areas for groups to meet. Playful decor. They reduce cognitive fatigue and stimulate associative thinking.
The sort of sterile, cubicle after cubicle, rigid space many businesses still use invites stress, induces fight or flight responses from many, and shut down the prefrontal cortex where creative insights announce themselves.
The sort of climate control leadership this show has promoted is relevant here, for sure. Leaders who spend thoughtful time curating climates that invite curiosity and facilitate diverse thinking are supporting, inviting, promoting creative energy and perspectiveS.
