Exploring Your Creative Genius: Episode 159

In this week’s show I shared insights that the PRISM assessment tool makes available. It’s the assessment tool that identifies one’s preferred behaviors, the behaviors they naturally apply when working; over 100 neuroscience research papers were used to develop the tool.

PRISM identifies four major clusters of preferred behaviors; most of us are strong in two of the four clusters.

One of the easiest and most fun challenges I have take on is identifying the creative behaviors naturally associated with each behavior cluster. Here are some highlights, you’ll find more in the show.

When taking on a piece of work are you….

Analytical? You want to study the data, examine the information that exists. You are creative by using structured logic to connect disparate ideas, identify patterns, and solve problems from new angles.

Action-oriented? You act quickly, you experiment and engage in rapid prototyping, getting immediate feedback leading to iterative improvement that refines your ideas.

Collaborative? You value diverse perspectives, you are a great listener, and your empathetic feedback can transform individuals’ ideas into robust solutions.

Relying on your imagination? You apply your mental capacities to discover unexpected connections between ideas, converting those internal visions into useful outcomes.

One of the reasons I have enjoyed working with PRISM is this constant reminder that we are all creative in our own unique and very valuable ways. And remember, you are likely to find your behavior preferences line up with two of these clusters.

“Exploring Your Creative Genius” takes an expansive view on what it means to be creative and entrepreneurial in an ongoing conversation led by Carl Nordgren — entrepreneur, novelist, and lifelong student with decades of experience growing his own creative capacity and assisting others to do the same in exciting new ways!
