Ever encounter someone with a big “but”?

My apologies WCHL, I guess I should’ve clarified the kind of “but” I’m referring.  You know the kind of responders who say:

I would vote, “but”

Or how about

Voting helps other people, “but” not me

Or the one who says

I’d vote for this candidate, “but”

As the saying goes, if you want something to succeed, take “but” out of your vocabulary.  Big “buts” are showing up at the wrong places and the wrong times.  And in this political season, we can’t afford any more.

  • Like folks who prefer to complain, rather than get involve!
  • Or the ones who give their opinion, rather than a helping hand!
  • The naysayers, pessimistic Patty’s, and chatty Cathy’s with all the answers, but no idea what the questions are!

This is one of the most important elections of our lifetime.  Where if we don’t get out and vote we could possibly lose the very right of voting itself.  We’re witnessing a methodical dismantling of basic rights through voting restrictions, community redistricting, and even restroom privileges.  Our freedoms and liberties are being compromised locally, regionally and nationally.   And if we sit back, resting on our laurels, assuming one vote wouldn’t make a difference, we will lose!

So, as this election season continues on and the big “buts” start showing up, let’s show them our other side, the side that’s moving toward inclusive change.

Your vote in coming elections truly matters, so please—tell your friends, family and foes to get out and vote, because our today and many more tomorrows depend on it!
